I like hearing "smooth" playing like Hank as opposed to "smash it loud" like Slash from Gun 'n' Roses, I don't think Slash could do something like F.B.I. particularly well but by the same token I don't think Hank could handle Sweet Child Of Mine. A lot of "famous" guitarists are from bands like Brian May, Queen, Slash, Guns 'n' Roses, Richie Sambora Bon Jovi, even Hank from The Shadows, I like a lot of country and western, blues type music which is still mostly soloists with a backing band none of which are overly famous, other than Hank, I would dare gamble at least 95% of people haven't heard of my other 2 favourites Dann Huff, Reba's Guitarist and Pete Anderson who plays lead guitar for Dwight Yoakam, Then the next in line Americans have probably heard of but not many in the UK Bonnie Raitt better known as a singer but also plays lead guitar. Then their are more guitarists that have done some great country stuff even I couldn't name. As both examples. Hank and Slash are lead guitars, it works due to the type of singer is the bands frontman, or vocalist, Cliff wouldn't work with Slash due to the style of play, could you see Cliff doing Paradise City with Slash but also could you see Axl Rose doing Summer Holiday with Hank My 4 favourite guitar solos are in 2 songs, 2 in each "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" by Reba and "1000 Miles From Nowhere" by Dwight Yoakam, the way it was done by both was very clever a solo so far through the song then the lyrics are stopped completely, not faded out and the last 20 to 30 seconds of the song are played as a guitar solo
